Corelleo Marrero for Thvm

Director/Editor: Corelleo Marrero
Art Direction: Ishi Glinsky
“Each idea, we could imagine, are synaptic mental explosions mimicking the hued gaseous kaleidoscope of deep space”
Well, we could’nt describe it better. Corelleo Marrero takes us to a trip into the deep wilderness of imagination and melting with your evironment… What is it, that’s energizes the girl and pulls her into it’s dark depth?
Marreros work is described as “a postmodern Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test” which perfectly fits to the style of Los Angeles denim brand Thvm. The film has a spiritual and mysterious aura, which thrills the viewer. Well done!
By the way: also visit our friends from Thvm at Thvm Rag, the bi-annual publication of the label!

“Lazy Jeanne” by Jérémie Rozan

Directed by Jérémie Rozan
Music: Harmonia by Cass McCombs
Unfortunately we couldn’t find any more credits.
French directror Jérémie Rozan’s film for Surface to Air is composed of soft images portraying a lazy summer mood. The cut-off framings and the absence of the protagonists’ faces show a kind of rarely seen imagery, while the poppy colors and the whole atmosphere fit perfectly into the currently very popular late-sixties/seventies-look. Beautifully tanned skin, a hammock and Cass McCombs’ wonderful voice round everything up nicely. A truly cute fashion film.

WRANGLER did it again. Most of you will remember their last, quite fabulous campaign from 2010, in which they proved that interactivity doesn’t have to be merely an empty word that notoriously pops up in every second agency briefing or so.
Sure, maybe this one’s a bit light on the interactive part (check the Wrangler-Homepage and play with it), but it’s still fun and you can do no wrong when commissioning of of the masters of electronica, Mr. Michael Fakesch, for your score. So, yeah, watch the film, have fun and, I suppose, “get your edge back”…?

Showstudio’s Ruth Hogben is one of the names instantly associated with fashion film. She has influenced the genre first and foremost through the extensive use of a diverse palette of visual effects. In her newest collaboration with LOVE’s editor in chief Katie Grand, she has brought her style to perfection. The duplication and mirror effects have a great impact when used with an ensemble. Some of the almost floral compositions kind of remind us of synchronized swimming… beautiful.
Fan Club offers everything a grande fashion film needs: one of the top luxury brands, Louis Vuitton, a collaboration with one of the top-notch fashion mags around, LOVE Magazine, a great idea, top creatives and a whole team of professional craftsmen (the number of credits says it all). And additionally, LOVE has, unlike many other brands, understood how to position a fashion film in the web by placing it as a pre-roll on their website. What more could you want?

The Colour of a Shamen by Ken Kamara & Colin Ellis

Creative Director of video: Colin Ellis
Hair: Vernon Francois
Photographer: Stuart Weston
Stylist : Samson Soboye
Jewellery Designer: Angela Hertault
Model : Zoe Brown
This piece, comissioned by facticemagazine.com, shows that one can work around the static and more than often boring photoshoot setting in order to get something that is more than moving photography. I should make clear, that I’m talking from a film-making perspective here, and quite a haunting film Ken and Colin did achieve here! Whoever is responsible for the heavy (and very skilled!) use of after effects should be credited with the main directing for this film. As it is with many other fashion films, the directing shifts from the guy on set who “filmed” (recorded would be a better fit) models in front of a studio backdrop to the guy who’s editing and posting and arranging the material in order to get an ambiance, sometimes even some kind of narration out of it.
Truth is, most of the times it feels kind of forced and just doesn’t work. Not with this film! So congrats to the talent involved and you, dear reader, are welcome to enjoy this very nice horror- and witchhouse-themed spot!
