Eventhough Barnaby Roper‘s piece for the Australian accesoires brand Maniamania was launched quite a while ago (in February 2011), we just had to feature it…Why? Well, because, first of all, our collection of Barnaby’s body of work on Ravished wouldn‘t be complete without it (see also Vanitas, Pauline and Iris); secondly because of Abbey Lee (duh) and finally because, even if we normally aren’t very keen on the overly-excessive use of effects, this film continues what Barnaby (resp. his cutter and post-guys @ Industrial Color) started with Iris: the exploration of the slice-effect. However, the result is a very fast paced and quite entertaining film inspired by „Vali Myers, an Australian artist and vagabond gypsy who roamed around the world as a free spirited dancer in the underworld of a post war Paris, then later becoming an artist and muse to many icons of our time, such as a young Patti Smith and Mariane Faithfull.“

If two beautiful women are dancing ballet together in transparent luxe-gothic dresses, it is probably one of the most sensual sights ever. Award-winning director Barnaby Roper created right this, by casting dancers of The Royal Danish Ballet and clothing them with the latest autmn/winter collection by his wife and designer Camilla Staerck. What you get is a mixture between beauty and sensuality versus creepy creatures in fascinating motions. Enjoy!
Nowness celebrates its first birthday, as one can expect, with another masterpiece, called “Pauline”. Filmmaker Barnaby Roper, who has also crafted the facinating fashion film Iris, created a tableau of sliced images of model Pauline van der Cruysse. Each image is accompanied by a musical element, which all added together result in a symphony. The spectator can add, eliminate or enlarge each image in order to create his own symphony. But instead of just anticipating, try it out yourself!

Very nice Fashion Film for Nowness.com by Barnaby Roper. Barnaby Roper, who already proved his capabilities as a Fashion Videographer in his Showstudio Projects “Mouth” and the great interactive “Eniko” (be shure to check this one out - you can edit your own Fashion Video!) is back with a new film featuring the cool Iris Strubegger. It’s very simple AND effective, basically using only one effect, which slices the picture in horizontal chunks and arranges them anew. Enjoy!
