Steadycam, single take sequence, high school, kid(s) walking around, through corridors, a strong score… Yeah, that was Elephant, Gus van Sant masterful film about the Columbine shootings. It’s like Colin Kennedy & Steve Berra, the directors of Go All Day, are playing with the same techniques but intend quite the opposite message in their film: high-school’s a playground, everyone’s easy, all is good and you can get through easily. And as long as you drink some gatorade, you can “go all day”.
This may sound negative, but we don’t mean it at all. If anything, we’re quite stunned how perfectly well that turned out. Leave aside the insane technical skills of the crew, the mood of the film is very special and it manages to put a big smile on your face. Still, we do have to admit, we were kind of relieved when it ended… like, with a happy end.
Fantastic stuff.
